Abstract

PAVAO, Michelle Roberta; DIAS, Walquiria Pereira da Silva  and  GALVANI, Márcia Duarte. Adults conceptions with disabilities about working conditions in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Rev. Educ. Espec. [online]. 2023, vol.36, e69766.  Epub June 24, 2024. ISSN 1984-686X.  https://doi.org/10.5902/198468669766.

The objective of this study is to analyze the adults reports with disabilities about the work routine lived in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and describe the work dynamics. This is a qualitative research, with an interpretive and descriptive-exploratory approach. 11 adults with disabilities participated, inserted in the job market. For data collection, it was used a semi-structured interview script. The interviews took place through the Google Meet platform and were recorded, transcribed and revisited by the researchers. The analysis of information were based on content analysis. As results, it was found that the work routine during a pandemic was mostly based on remote work, removal, dismissal, reduction and/or flexibility in working hours, as well as changing the employment relationship. The positive aspects considered during the pandemic in relation to work were flexibility of time, dedication to other tasks, autonomy and independence. As negative aspects it were pointed out digital platforms, communication difficulties, fear of being fired, increase or decrease in service demand and lack of social interaction. It is concluded that there are issues that cross excluding actions, targeting people with disabilities. On the other hand, some reported situations, such as unemployment, represent a reality faced by many Brazilian workers with and without disabilities in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, which reflect the capitalist logic in the labor market.
