Large-scale assessments should consider the characteristics and specificities of those evaluated, offering adequate accessibility so that conditions of equity among participants are guaranteed. This study aimed to investigate the possible barriers to accessibility related to the process established, for people with visual impairments, in taking the Brazilian National High School Examination. Through qualitative research, this exploratory study had the participation of 29 people with visual impairment who took the exam, from 10 different Brazilian states, in addition to the analysis of official documents. The results showed barriers in information access, as well as technological and attitudinal barriers in the exam, in addition, the results also indicated that accessibility issues were not restricted to specialized care at the time of the test, with barriers existing in stages before and after the completion of the test. Based on the diagnosis obtained, actions were recommended to improve equity in the Brazilian National High School Examination.
