Abstract

BAGATIN, Thiago; BONFIM, Gabriele dos Santos  and  XAVIER, Michele Cristina. Challenges of online psychological care for the deaf community. Rev. Educ. Espec. [online]. 2023, vol.36, e84087.  Epub Sep 25, 2024. ISSN 1984-686X.  https://doi.org/10.5902/1984686x84087.

The deaf community faces specific difficulties and psychological suffering, a fact that requires careful attention on the part of psychology professionals. In view of this, the present work aims to discuss the challenges of online psychological care for the deaf community. For this, we initially carried out a bibliographic survey, of an exploratory nature, with the purpose of systematizing studies relevant to the theme and object of this research. In the second moment, we analyzed and categorized interviews of researchers from the deaf community, which were disseminated on public websites. In view of this research, we understand the need for bilingual professionals who are capable of directly accessing symbolic material during the therapeutic process and who understand the particular ways deaf people experience their experiences.
