Abstract

LYRA, Vanessa Bellani. O desenvolvimento moral humano: perspectivas e contribuições da teoria de Lawrence Kohlberg. Contrapontos [online]. 2007, vol.07, n.03, pp.601-613. ISSN 1984-7114.

Speaking of ethics/morals has perhaps never been such a current theme. In a society, where the true meaning of what turns out to be moral values is often questioned; as well as what are the main means of transmitting and learning these moral values, Lawrence Kohlberg shows us the human being in his potential as agent and subject, i.e. constituent and constituted by the long process of acquisition of moral behaviors. Given that Kohlberg sees this as a process which is continually taking on new meaning throughout the life of the human being, the author takes up Piaget‘s model of moral development and refines it. The present study gives a brief review of the Theory of Moral Development, defended by the author, pointing out his ideas, mechanisms of practical implementation, and some points of convergence and divergence with the model which gave rise to it.

Keywords : Human Development; Stages and Levels of Development; Moral Reasoning.
