This article analyzes the signs of environmental awareness present in children’s films, using the film ‘Trapalhões na Terra dos Monstros’ (Trapalhões In The Land of the Monsters) (1989) as the object of study, since this film makes a strong appeal to environmental preservation. First, scenes were identified in which signs of environmental education appear. these signs were then categorized, and different ways of using them in Basic Education were demonstrated. For the analysis, the signs which express values of environmental awareness were categorized. It is hoped that this article will serve as an incentive for further work in this area, with studies based on other children’s movies which can contribute to education in general.
