Abstract

The objective of this article is to reflect on the symbolic, and the “double” present in literary language, in a corpus that defines and mirrors the reality: Cecília Meireles’s “Mulher ao Espelho” and “Retrato”; Paulo Leminski’s “Pareça e Desapareça”; Mário Quintana’s “O Espelho”, Clarice Lispector’s “O Búfalo” and “Onde Estivestes de Noite” and Caetano Veloso’s “Sampa“. These literary works that make use of mirror as a theme and weave reflections of different orders are analyzed as promoters of social links that determine different perceptions of the reality, demonstrating the poetic power.
