Abstract

BUKOWITZ, Natercia de Souza Lima. Interfaces in the literacy process: logic-mathematization as a support for acquiring reading and writing skills. Contrapontos [online]. 2011, vol.11, n.01, pp.48-52. ISSN 1984-7114.

The article seeks to clarify, for students of undergraduate in Pedagogy, the interdependence between the construction of the process reading and writing, and the development of logical-mathematical reasoning, and to emphasize the importance of this knowledge for teachers working in the final stage of the Early Childhood Education and the first year of elementary school. Thus, pre-literacy mathematics provides support for the acquisition of literacy in a wider sense. The arguments used are based on the theories of Piaget and Ferreiro, and on the studies of Lima and Machado.

Keywords : Mathematical Literacy; Construction of the Process of Reading and Writing; Early Childhood Education; Elementary School.
