Resumen

FAUSTINO, Rosângela Célia. Social movements, indigenous issues and education in the context of cultural diversity. Contrapontos [online]. 2011, vol.11, n.03, pp.323-335. ISSN 1984-7114.

This article discusses the policies of cultural diversity produced by international organizations since the end of World War II. It shows evidence of the presence of actions such as funding research, studies, and training of teachers in different countries. It is observed that militant researchers and teachers are responsible for spreading ideals of equality and respect for cultural differences. In the context of current social movements, particularly the struggles of the indigenous people, the presence is highlighted, of a discourse in defense of demarcation of land, the right to health, and a different kind of education, from a perspective of social inclusion, but without questioning the foundations that led to the production of inequality in capitalist society.

Palabras clave : Cultural Diversity; Indigenous Peoples; Social Movements.
