The present work has as objective to problematize how, in the contemporary school, the instrument of the norm produces effects on the bodies. The main theoretical contributions are Foucault (2006, 2014), Deleuze (1992), Dussel and Caruso (2003), Cervi (2010), Passetti (2003) and Veiga-Neto (2014). The post-critical perspective was used as a theoretical-methodological strategy. Field research was carried out at a municipal school of basic education in the state of Santa Catarina, in the year 2015. The instruments of data production were: photographs, field diary and the Political-Pedagogical Project of the institution. It infers from the produced data that the norm compares, differentiates, hierarchizes, homogenizes, evaluates, excludes, defines, marks deviations, limits, abnormal and corrects the body. Although the device continues to discipline, controlling, this school has succeeded and can be another school within itself, inventive, resistant, where friendship and caring for each other establish themselves in small moments of everyday life.
