The aim of this text is to analyze Brazilian linguistic policies for indigenous people. Also, attention will be place at linguistic policies for indigenous students in an undergraduate course: Formação Intercultural para Educadores Indígenas, in Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. In this course, the language spoken are six indigenous Portuguese varieties, Maxakali language and Guarani language. Faculty have been working in order to teach academic Portuguese and support indigenous languages. Fiei has been constructing evaluation systems in indigenous languages, encouraging orality and writing in indigenous language, developing pedagogical instruments to teach those languages. This text intends to contribute on the ongoing discussion.
