Abstract

DARSIE, Camilo  and  SOUZA, Matheus Santos de. HEALTH GEOGRAPHY AND EDUCATION: INTERDISCIPLINARY ANALYSIS OF THE ORGANIZATION OF HEALTH TERRITORIES PROMOTED BY THE SUS. Contrapontos [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.2, pp.108-125.  Epub Dec 12, 2022. ISSN 1984-7114.  https://doi.org/10.14210/contrapontos.v22n2.p108-125.

The subject of this paper lies at the intersection between Geography, Health and Education. It discusses the importance of Health Geography and how it is related to health practices and the educational field. More specifically, it addresses the concept of territory in health, as a dimension that needs to be better understood by managers, users and professionals of the Brazilian national health system - the Unified Health System (SUS). The study is based on the principles of narrative literature review, based on a literature review and critical-reflective analysis of the topic. It is argued that knowledge related to space, health conditions and educational practices, if properly articulated, is an important tool for strengthening national health indices. We therefore emphasize the need for knowledge of territorial dynamics, so that health planning does not impose itself on the territorialities in which it is inserted. Education in health makes a significant contribution to this scenario.

Keywords : Health Geography; Health Education; Health Territories; Territorialities; Unified Health System.
