Abstract

SA, Maria Auxiliadora Ávila dos Santos  and  ALMEIDA, Laurinda Ramalho de. Professional aging in teacher›s and engineers trajectory. Psic. da Ed. [online]. 2015, n.40, pp.59-76. ISSN 2175-3520.  https://doi.org/10.5935/2175-3520.20150005.

Population aging and the professional longevity promote a research on the trajectory of engineering professors conducting three biographical interviews by distinct professors generations: 1st) teachers with up to 10 years in the classroom, 2nd) between 10 and 20 years, 3rd) with up to 30 years. This transition was arranged in biograms, which makes it possible to identify five common stages: 1) pre-initial, cycle preceding the entrance into the teaching career; 2) initial, constituted by the entrance, adaptation and stabilization, concluding with the commitment or leaving the teaching profession; 3) full dedication to the administration, research and/ or teaching; 4) revision of life, characterized by full dedication and crisis or transition; 5) expectation for the retirement or the career path under a new perspective. Changes in the engineering teaching along three decades indicate that broaden researches will contribute to the training of the university professors.
