Abstract

KRAMM, Daniele de Lima  and  LUNA, Sergio Vasconcelos de. Systematic Review: Conceptualization, Classification, and Possible Directions for Its Conduct. Psic. da Ed. [online]. 2025, n.58, pp.112-126.  Epub June 23, 2025. ISSN 2175-3520.  https://doi.org/10.23925/2175-3520.2025i58p112-126.

This theoretical article aims to present the specific characteristics of systematic review research, describe the most used types, and the phases that constitute them, addressing their strengths and areas for potential improvement. A sequence of steps is suggested for conducting such research, with an emphasis on integrative reviews. Given their broad scope regarding the data sources to be used and the methodological rigor employed in data collection, these reviews have proven to be important allies in research within the health, human, and social sciences, fostering dialogue between scientific knowledge and the practices of professionals in these fields. It is concluded that rigor in the initial stages has been considered an advancement for review research, particularly in the qualitative data collection stage. However, there remains a need to develop more precise procedures for analysis, synthesis and conclusions, as the board range of methods analyzed in integrative systematic reviews may increase the chances of biases and inaccuracies on the part of researchers.

Keywords : methodology; scientific research; systematic review; integrative review; meta-analysis; qualitative metasynthesis.
