PERES, Juliana de Jesus Pinheiro; SANTOS, Roberto Ferreira dos; CORREIA, Adriana Martins  y  SILVA, Carlos Alberto Figueiredo da. First World Games of Indigenous Peoples: an analysis of viewers’ perception. Rev. Motriviv. [online]. 2019, vol.31, n.59, e57802.  Epub 03-Dic-2019. ISSN 2175-8042.  https://doi.org/10.5007/2175-8042.2019e57802.

The objective of this study was to analyze the World Games of Indigenous Peoples (JMPI), from the point of view of spectators who went to the event, indigenous and non - indigenous, in order to describe their perceptions on political and social issues of the games. The approach is qualitative and the instrument used in the data collection was the semi-structured interview. 15 subjects participated in the study, chosen at random. Evidence indicates that the JMPI brought the global community closer to the indigenous reality, but there was a lack of autonomy in the formulation of the event by indigenous leaders, and the possibility of the event serving to obscure the reality of violence faced by indigenous peoples in Brazil.

Palabras clave : Indigenous: Sport; Games; Physical education; Ethnomethodology.
