Abstract

GOUVEA, Bruno dos Santos  and  SILVA, Kátia Regina Xavier da. Teaching health concepts in Physical Education classes by means of a social cognitive theory perspective. Rev. Motriviv. [online]. 2019, vol.31, n.60, e59662.  Epub Dec 05, 2019. ISSN 2175-8042.  https://doi.org/10.5007/2175-8042.2019e59662.

The study aims to present the development and assessment of an educational kit, designed to foster self-regulatory skills, while teaching concepts of health as a transversal theme in the High School Physical Education curriculum. This is a qualitative and quantitative action research developed throughout a professional master´s degree course. School teachers, education and health professionals, who took part in an extension course, assessed the kit through a survey. Quantitative data from closed-end questions of the survey were assessed by means of statistical descriptive analysis. Qualitative data from a designated space allowing respondents to make comments were analyzed by Bardin´s content analysis. The results suggest the feasibility of the educational kit, regarding its potential both to improve teaching practices and to promote self-regulatory processes in Basic Education. The respondents highlighted its language transparency, its pedagogical organization, and the debates that arise from contents regarding health as a transversal theme.
