The objective was to research how Physical Education is configured in the context of Integrated High School, regarding its pedagogical purpose and the curricular knowledge that are developed in teaching practices. This is a qualitative research that had the collaboration of six Physical Education teachers, who work on different campuses of Federal Institutes located in the state of Santa Catarina. Physical education in integrated high school has an intimate relationship with knowledge about the body. This knowledge can provide students with a critical analysis of the mode of production in the context of employment and aspects related to worker health. It is the responsibility of Physical Education in these Federal Institutes to fulfill their function as a curricular component of this type of teaching, which can contribute to the necessary training for life, the exercise of citizenship and the understanding of the cultural context in which the subjects are part. The data presented in this study, contributed to the elaboration of a Curricular Proposal for Physical Education in a Federal Institute.
