Abstract

MEZZAROBA, Cristiano  and  SANTOS, Weverton Paulo dos. Review of the book “Media processes in the sports field”. Rev. Motriviv. [online]. 2020, vol.32, n.63, e71820.  Epub Oct 30, 2020. ISSN 2175-8042.  https://doi.org/10.5007/2175-8042.2020.e71820.

The text is a review of Gustavo Sanfelice’s work, entitled “Media processes in the sports field”, published in 2018 by Appris Publishing. His work is organized in five chapters, which seek to bring contextualization of the carried out research, that is, understanding the strategies of media construction in relation to the artistic gymnastics Brazilian athlete Daiane dos Santos. This is mainly due to her social actions (winning titles before the 2004 Olympic Games, maximum sporting performance that leads her to win an Olympic gold medal, elaboration of her own technical gestures, etc.) and the transformation of these social actions into media events, based on frameworks and meaning maps, in a research carried out in the Zero Hora (ZH) and Folha de São Paulo (FSP) newspapers. Different results are evidenced in the discursive construction of these two journals: more local coverage, based on local and emotional identities (ZH), and more national coverage, based on objective elements (FSP).

Keywords : Media processes; Sports field; Media field; Daiane dos Santos.
