Abstract

Postural problems can cause pain and functional limitations in children and adolescents. An effective measure to avoid this is the development of Postural Education Programs at school. This experience report describes the theoretical and practical activities carried out with 75 students (9-12 years old) of both sexes, attending between 4th and 5th grades, as well as the participation of class teachers (n = 28; 24- 28 years). The activities were developed once a week (50 minutes), for 16 weeks. The contents worked on were: i) anatomy of the spine and, ii) correct way of sitting, lying down, crouching and picking up objects from above and on the ground. The activities were carried out through games, plays and adapted songs. Based on the students' reports at the end of each meeting, it was found that the Postural Education Program was effective, as it transformed the postural habits of students in the classroom and also in their homes, in addition to increasing the knowledge levels of the students about the implications of incorrect postural habits for health. Consequently, the interviews carried out with the class teachers showed that the activities developed qualified their knowledge on the subject body posture of schoolchildren, contributing significantly to the political-pedagogical project of the school, contributing significantly to the school's political-pedagogical project.
