Abstract

This article discusses the pertinence of characterizing the dispute in education policies from the binomial right-wing and left-wing. One arguments that this binomial can synthesize opposite propositions in education, which disputes the direction of actual public government policies. The recognition of oppositions can be an instrument for understanding government actions, by recognizing that political parties, in the institutional arena, are related to opposite proposals and they build polices that includes the demand from the right-wing and the left-wing. Therefore, it presents a review of the bibliography of political parties in Brazil and a review of the analyses of education policy proposals after military dictatorship. From this review, one built a matrix that synthesizes the education policies disputes in the scope of education access, management and financing.
