The aim of this study is to apprehend the institution and dissemination process of school buildings that took place in Paraná during the First Republic period, based on the identification and analysis of the buildings constructed by the time and their architectural design. It considers that a school building constructed for such purpose is a historic response and it is geographically placed within the pedagogic and sanitary demands of the time. It materializes the art and technique of building spaces, establishing order and limits, attending specific demands, expressing values and symbolizing the importance of education at that period.
