Abstract

SAUL, Ana Maria  and  SILVA, Antonio Fernando Gouvêa. O legado de Paulo Freire para as políticas de currículo e para a formação de educadores no Brasil. R. Bras. Est. Pedag. [online]. 2009, vol.90, n.224, pp.223-244. ISSN 2176-6681.

The article presents Paulo Freire’s contribution to curriculum politics and the training of educators, in Brazil, through his work as the Secretary for Education in the city of São Paulo (1989-1991). Paulo Freire’s administrative objective, the construction of a high quality popular and democratic public school, was achieved by means of a curricular paradigm of emancipatory-critic rationality and a program of training for educators. The authors present a trajectory of municipal and state Secretaries of Education, of the so called “popular administrations” that, from the work in São Paulo, take inspiration from the Freirean references and practice during the 1990s. The text also presents how the work of this educator, researched and recreated, continues to be highly relevant.

Keywords : Paulo Freire; Curriculum Policies; Teacher Formation.
