The article presents the research results about the courses that graduate liberal professionals in Law, Civil Engineering and Medicine. The objective was to understand the representations of the teachers and their teaching work in these courses. The approach was qualitative. Questionnaires and interviews were used. It revealed that the students take as model the teachers with a strong insertion in the professional practice. They value knowledge mastership, methodologies, and attitudes and personal points of view of the teachers, as well as the way of teaching that meets their immediate interests. The difference among the courses is related to the dissimilarity between the object of study and the academic and professional activities that each one has.
