Abstract

KISHIMOTO, Tizuko Morchida. Educação infantil no Brasil e no Japão: acelerar o ensino ou preservar o brincar?. R. Bras. Est. Pedag. [online]. 2009, vol.90, n.225, pp.449-467. ISSN 2176-6681.

The study focus on the nursery education in Brazil and Japan in order to verify if it focus on teaching or playing .It investigates also the reasons for the decrease in the number of children enrolled in schools in the year of 2006. The froebelian education is the first common point: Japan’s kindergartens adopt free playing games to develop the culture of amusement, and Brazil in its turn provides orientated activities with pedagogical toys. The decrease of registered children in schools in 2006 has distinct reasons: in Japan it is due to the impact of the falling birthrate, and in the case of Brazil, children at six years old were placed in the compulsory educational system.
