This article analyzes how the schooling education as a subject of the nationalism that reached the primary school in German immigration areas, during Vargas government period. One gets back vestiges of didactic-pedagogical proposals in school textbooks and manuals, as well as in teaching programs, material of propaganda and school exercise books used by students and teachers. The linguistic records find evidence of the prohibition to speak German language and the obligation to use Portuguese instead. The bilingual handwritings denote the development of new pedagogical practices by the use of the traditional method approach know as grammar-translation method. The handwritings reveal the use of texts and images as a strategic content intend to inculcate an ideology based on patriotic values and attitudes in the in the schoolchildren.
