Resumen

The article analyzes two american textbooks: A brief course in the history of education (1907) by Paul Monroe and A student’s textbook in the history of education (1916) by Stephen Pierce Duggan in order to identify similarities and differences among the structure and the guiding principles of the book Noções de História da Educação (1933) by Afranio Peixoto who claims that he was inspired by these previous works to produce the guide to teachers education. The analysis of the homology and the differences among the three experiences contribute to the constitution of a specific historiography tradition, interested in highlight a narrative pattern to be configured as a model to the history of education teaching.
