Abstract

In celebration of Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio teixeira - Inep’s 75th anniversary the article covers, at first, the institute’s trajectory taking as reference the legal framework and, in a second moment, the experience obtained from the project “Diagnosis of the Brazilian Education”, developed by Inep in the 80’s. On the third moment, it rebuilds the historical paths taken by the Revista Brasileira de Estudos Pedagógicos - Rbep (Brazilian Journal of Pedagogical Studies) showing how it went from its original profile as an official entity of the MEC (Ministry of Education), to a journal organized according the current standards of scientific journal. In the conclusion, there is presented a critical proposal of Inep’s and the Brazilian Journal of Pedagogical Studies current situation.
