Abstract

ANDRIOLA, Wagner Bandeira  and  SULIANO, Daniele Cirilo. Assessment of social impacts resulting from the internalization of the Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC). R. Bras. Est. Pedag. [online]. 2015, vol.96, n.243, pp.282-298. ISSN 2176-6681.  https://doi.org/10.1590/S2176-6681/339512841.

The text reports the main results derived from the assessment of the impacts of the presence of the Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC) in the countryside of the state of Ceará, due to the university's adhesion to the Program of Support for Plans of Restructuring and Expansion of the Federal Universities (Reuni). A descriptive research (ex post facto) was conducted with 129 professors and 503 students of three advanced campuses of UFC in the municipalities of Sobral, Quixadá and Cariri Region (Juazeiro, Crato and Barbalha), and with 191 local residents. The questionnaires for the professors and students were self-administered, that is, they were distributed to the respondents so that they could answer it individually, and then return the forms to the research assistants. Individual interviews, based on a semi-structured model, were conducted with local residents. The results obtained with the survey in the three campuses converged on the acceptance that the UFC has caused positive social impacts in the municipalities of Ceará, which include: greater local economic dynamics, resulting on municipal growth; greater opportunities for the local population to count on new forms of professional training through the access to higher education; and the generation of more job posts for local residents
