Abstract

LOCATELLI, Cleomar. Teachers in Brazilian higher education: transformations of the teaching work during the last decade. R. Bras. Est. Pedag. [online]. 2017, vol.98, n.248, pp.77-93. ISSN 2176-6681.  https://doi.org/10.24109/2176-6681.rbep.98i248.2815.

This study aims to analyze the composition and changes in the teaching work during the last decade, considering the changes that have occurred in the labor world due to the dominant economic and political interests. From a theoretical point of view, some conceptual definitions about the productive restructuring and the regulatory processes (or educational reforms) are presented in order to discuss the reality of work in general and the teaching work in particular. From an empirical point of view, some data relating to higher education teaching staff in Brazil are raised, regarding what had happened in the last decade, more precisely between 2003 and 2013. The current conditions of the teaching work in higher education remain strongly impacted by changes in the labor world, and in their particularities and singularities lie contradictions of a sector with objectives and purposes not necessarily aligned with the market rules.

Keywords : productive restructuring; teaching work; higher education.
