Abstract

DELMONDI, Natalia Nascimben  and  PAZUCH, Vinícius. A theoretical overview of research trends on the teaching of geometric transformations. R. Bras. Est. Pedag. [online]. 2018, vol.99, n.253, pp.659-686. ISSN 2176-6681.  https://doi.org/10.24109/2176-6681.rbep.99i253.38616.

This article provides an overview of research trends on the teaching of geometric transformations. Thus, a systematic literature review was conducted, in which 24 teaching-focused journals were analyzed, of which all were rated A1 in Qualis by the WebQualis Capes portal, in the quadrennium 2013-2016. Thirty of those articles were selected and distributed in ten analysis themes, grouped in four units of analysis, according to the context of each of the themes. Following the analysis of the articles, the units were synthesized; with a focus on the most-explored themes, the conceptual aspects and the teaching approaches vis-à-vis the geometric transformations. The results revealed that the main gaps found in the teaching of geometric transformations could be minimized, directly or indirectly, through the processes of continuing education of educators who teach mathematics.

Keywords : teaching approaches; geometry teaching; systematic review of literature.
