Abstract

XAVIER, Maria Kamylla e Silva  and  CARVALHO, Maria Eulina Pessoa de. Profile analysis of Brazilian high school physics teachers in light of intersectionality. R. Bras. Est. Pedag. [online]. 2025, vol.106, e6033.  Epub Oct 01, 2025. ISSN 2176-6681.  https://doi.org/10.24109/2176-6681.rbep.106.6033.

This study presents an analysis of the profile of Physics teachers in high school considering intersectional aspects of sex/gender, race/color, and training/degree, in all regions of Brazil. Employed data were extracted from the microdata folders of the 2020 Basic Education Census, in the format made available by Inep until February 2022, and processed in the R programming environment. The analysis applies descriptive statistics, and the discussion is developed in light of the concept of intersectionality. Results reveal a predominance of male teachers and, among those who self-declared race/color, white was the most prevalent choice. Only a minority have a physics degree, while training in other areas is common. Women represent a small portion of teachers with specific training.

Keywords : physics teachers; high school; sex/gender; race/color.
