Resumen

This article refers to the trajectory of the discipline Philosophy of Education in the professional formation of primary school teachers from Paraná within 1946-1971. The study of that trajectory uses as main reference the Instituto de Educação do Paraná, an institution located in Curitiba, capital of the Paraná state. The objectives of this paper are: to identify the contents present in the discipline Philosophy of Education and the concept present in the Philosophy of Education that has identified the courses given by the aforesaid institution. The theoretical backup for this paper is based on Chervel (1990) and Santos (1990). To achieve the abovementioned objectives the following sources were used: class diaries, list of subjects for school exams, list of subjects for public tests, the Federal Government decrees, the State Government decrees, deter minations from the State Educational Secretary, instructions from the State Public Service Committee and school manuals. Those sources were obtained in the library and public archives of the Instituto de Educação do Paraná as well as in the archives of the Colégio Sant’Ana. The analysis of the data obtained indicate that the discipline Philosophy of Education within 1946-1971 lacked an identity for contents studied were mainly the History of Philosophy, not contributing therefore, to create a reference for primary school teachers to reflect about their educational practice and transform it into praxis.
