Previous studies revealed the existence of low self-esteem in education professionals. This feeling, together with pessimism, senses of failure, of guilt and of self-depreciation become fearful the success of educational actions. They lead to attitudes of indecision and irritability and may undermine the educational and learning process. Using official scales of psychology, we propose to measure the propensity for symptoms of depression and anxiety in teachers of the regions of Amerios and AMEOSC, as a contribution to the decision-making regarding to the qualification and the aid to be given to teachers. A total of approximately 20% of teachers in state and municipal education of the two regions were involved in the research. They answered the questions of the forms: the Beck Depression Inventory (depression) and the Hamilton Rating Scale (anxiety). The results show that surveyed teachers of the State Education tend to depressive and anxiety states higher to those of the Municipal Education. We conclude that, in addition to the required professional qualification teachers need other forms of assistance, such as: a better understanding of the work environment, of the current inter-relational ways, of the self-esteem and confidence strengthening ways, of the human, social and economic recognition; it is also important to devise action strategies to prevent the loss of self-esteem; finally we recognize that teachers need attention, help and valuation.
