This article presents the articulation of two surveys conducted in 2010 in the Course of Pedagogy, University of West of Santa Catarina - Unoesc. One of them aimed to investigate the curricular innovations of the course with the potential to address the pedagogical practice of graduates working in the Basic School and the other investigated the conception of former students of Course of Pedagogy, according their training for teaching practice. In both surveys, we opted for a qualitative approach, without neglecting quantifiable data. To collect data with a view to investigate the curricular innovations, we used the document analysis, focus groups and a mixed questionnaire, with 13 subjects participating which working in the Course. In order to investigate the conception of the former students for their training, a mixed questionnaire was used with 150 former students from the period 2004 to 2008 and the semi-structured interview with 10% of them. The data analysis showed that there is a commitment with the curriculum innovation explained in Educational Policy Project of the Pedagogy Course and certified in the voice of teachers which expressed the importance of collective work, the interdisciplinary, the unity between theory and practice and the articulation between initial and continuing training for innovations to take effect. Regarding the survey of former students, 61% recognize the contribution of the course in the theoretical sense; however, only 17% reveal that the Course contributed to the pedagogical practice and for the critical development. Seventy-two percent of the students surveyed have difficulties that need to be overcome in order to proceed the educational praxis, for the sake of learning. From those surveys, there is a need to rethink the curriculum and the educational innovations in the Course of Pedagogy at Unoesc in order to bring about improvements involving the training of the teacher who works at Basic Education.
