In Brazil there is an official policy to expand the access to computational resources for public school students, however, the quality of this offer is limited when it comes to the structuring of computer laboratories. This article presents research that investigates the conditions of infrastructure and use of computer laboratories in public schools located in five municipalities in the Metropolitan Region of Recife - PE. From the analysis of the data we make some reflections on the Proinfo as a public policy in education. The research data analysis showed that some schools have difficulties to deal with technical issues and practices involving digital inclusion. The study may support reflections on the implementation of public policies for access and use of technologies that consider the school context as an important variable.
