Abstract

In this paper was analysed the concept of habit from the perspective of the History of Education. For this purpose, it was considered the works: Nicomachean Ethics by Aristotle (384-322 BC); De Magistro and the question 49, section I, part II, from the Summa Theologica of Thomas Aquinas (1224-1274); About pedagogy of Kant (1724-1804) and The pedagogical evolution of Durkheim (1858-1917). Concerning the theoretical and methodological way attempted follow to principles of Social History. The intention was to seek an understanding of the concept in the light of classical authors, under different historical and social contexts, with the purpose of analyzing how the habit can be conceived in the human formation.
