This paper analyzes the role of intellectuals educators in disputes over projects for education in Brazil in the years 1930 to 1940. Discusses the approaches used in Brazil’s intellectual history, especially in academic works of history education. It’s presence at the scene of the Brazilian public intellectuals, who believed in the redemptive power of the school and as people’s and nation’s instituted interpreters; they believed it was necessary to act upon as an enlightened elite and thus shape the society and people. Brazilian intellectuals of the early twentieth century shared understanding and perspective of Mannheim (1974), as to liability, its scope, in new elites’ formation for the country. According to the mentioned thinker, the intellectual is a mediator of social conflicts.
