This article aims to analyze how minimum school attendance standpoint, present on the design of the “Programa Bolsa Família (PBF”, a cash transfer program of the Brazilian Federal Government is perceived according to the point of view of seven beneficiaries living in Campinas, SP. The results show that the interviewed expect the minimum of the school, in terms of content for their children, ie, literacy and basic equations. In our view, such perceptions, far from denoting only a fatalism about their social condition, indicate that they understand very precisely the cleavages of the uses of public services in Brazil. In consideration of the majority of the interviewees is difficult to expect anything beyond the minimum public school, since the best quality education that is offered at fee-paying schools.
