Resumen

This article reveals how public school children in situations of academic success, representing school and learning. The Theory of Social Representations was the guiding framework of the study. It is a descriptive qualitative approach. The study was conducted with children at school success, which responded to a semistructured interview. Data interpretation was guided by the content analysis, the results revealed that, in the representations of children, school is a place of preparation for the world of work and social mobility. Admit children learn outside of school and state use various sources to enhance their learning, such as books, television and internet. Highlighted as elements potentiating their learning, commitment, encouragement and interest of their teachers in developing their practice. It is concluded that the promising character of the school is anchored in the social representations of children.
