Abstract

ANTUNES, Maria Pinto. From school education into development: philosophical and cultural foundations. Roteiro. UNOESC [online]. 2015, vol.40, n.2, pp.273-292. ISSN 2177-6059.  https://doi.org/10.18593/r.v40i2.5891.

In spite of all the transformations it has gone under, the educational system continues being criticized for its maladjustment to the current holistic conception of man, life and knowledge, the reasons for criticism lying in its overly centering on reason, theoretical and scientific knowledge. This essay suggests that such maladjustment is maintained due to the fact that some of the assumptions of the cultural and philosophical narrative of modernity continue to underlie the current education system. The text further highlights the need for a re-contextualization of this narrative in order to promote a renewed conception of education and of educational action.

Keywords : School Education; Education for Development; Cultural and Philosophical Foundations.
