Abstract

The aim with this paper is to conduct a critical review on the evaluation practices occurring in Higher Education, marked by their traditional procedures. The purpose of this criticism is to point out some theoretical and methodological challenges that may prove productive to (re)think the educational process evaluation. Initially, the text will discuss the concept of the professor's professional development as a necessary process to rethink the evaluation practices. Secondly, the discussion turns to the self-evaluation as a possibility of an authentic evaluation. Finally, it will be discussed some theoretical and methodological challenges concerning the evaluation of educational processes that may be productive to analyze the current scenario of higher Education Expansion
