Abstract

This paper discusses about research and decision-making relationship, particularly in researchers' participation in governmental agencies as advisers or decision makers. In a preview study, this issue was explained from disciplinary and epistemic arguments: scientific reputation, expertise and timing. Timing is the synchrony between scientific work and issues in political agenda. Certainly, this issue implies other explanations; a progressive example is academic mid life crises. This crises occurs in some moments of careers, and is similar to occidental myth about mid life crises in the man mainly.
