Abstract

LIRA, Aliandra Cristina Mesomo  and  DREWINSKI, Jane Maria de Abreu. Compulsory school registration in Children´S Education: possible kickbacks. Roteiro [online]. 2020, vol.45, e20487.  Epub Feb 04, 2020. ISSN 2177-6059.  https://doi.org/10.18593/r.v45i0.20487.

This current paper discusses compulsory school registration for 4 and 5 year old children by Law 12,796 through research results aimed at following up and problematizing its compliance in a Brazilian mid-sized municipality. Studies were foregrounded on authors specialized in children´s education, such as Vieira (2011), Rosemberg (2015), Campos (2010) and others. The qualitative and quantitative research comprised data collection through interviews and analysis of educational statistics. Results demonstrate that legislation is complied with by introducing and implementing strategies that may compromise the right of children to quality education.
