The article aims to bring to debate the interfaces between teaching cases and formative narratives, taking as object of analysis the actions developed in a subproject of the Programa Institucional de Bolsa de Iniciação à Docência [Teaching Initiation Scholarship Program] (Pibid), within the scope of the Pedagogy course at the Universidade Estadual do Mato Grosso do Sul. As methodological procedures, having the biographical method as theoretical reference, a bibliographic survey of the production on Pibid, narrative research and teaching cases was carried out, in addition to the analysis of reports produced by participants of the subproject in the period from 2011 to 2017 and the production of a teaching case based on observations of the classes of a beginning teacher graduated from Pibid and interviews with the teacher and the manager of the school where she worked. The results showed that the teaching cases are located, methodologically, in the field of formative narratives, life stories, memorials, autobiographical narratives and other devices linked to narrative research and the biographical method. We conclude that the use of teaching cases in the referred subproject provided the participants of Pibid with a reflection on the teaching practices, the school space and the conceptions about teaching, learning and teaching profession, qualifying the initial training and enhancing the institution of literacy practices based on social use of reading and writing and playfulness.
