Resumen

MARIN-DIAZ, Dora Lilia. The key is the individual: Practices of the self and lifelong learning. Educação. UNISINOS [online]. 2015, vol.19, n.2, pp.168-174. ISSN 2177-6210.  https://doi.org/10.4013/edu.2015.192.01.

The article analyzes the boom of self-help discourses and their relationship to pedagogical discourses to show the centrality of the individual in contemporary practices government. Two actions are important in this analysis from an archaeo-genealogical perspective: first, understanding the impact that self-help has on the lives of its readers and practitioners through the consolidation and wide dissemination of tools to guide one's own life and define modes of being in the world; second, considering that the techniques promoted by self-help come from an ancient tradition of practices aimed at the government of the self. The study of the self-help - education - government series identifies some key elements of these discourses and shows the centrality of the notion of learning in them.
