Abstract

MARTINELI, Telma Adriana Pacifico  and  MOREIRA, Jani Alves da Silva. The concept of history and education in Lorenzo Luzuriaga and its impact in Brazil. Educação. UNISINOS [online]. 2016, vol.20, n.2, pp.166-175. ISSN 2177-6210.  https://doi.org/10.4013/edu.2016.202.03.

This article presents a summary of the studies of history of education books from the Spanish Lorenzo Luzuriaga. The aim of this study is the understanding of the conceptions of history and education from this author as well as his theoretical and philosophical foundations, besides identifying the means by which his work was known and recognized in Brazil and its purposes. This study was a theoretical analysis of two major Luzuriaga's work: "History of Education and Pedagogy" and "History of Public Education", also considering the historical analysis and its correlations as a whole. We concluded that Luzuriaga's theoretical production, based on the historicist assumptions of Wilhelm Dilthey and educational pragmatism of John Dewey, had repercussions in Brazil since 1950, through the Pedagogical News Collection (in Portuguese, Coleção Atualidades Pedagógicas). The dissemination of his thought lies in the time of after-war, of political, economic and social external influences and international publications in Brazil to consolidate and spread the New School design in Brazilian education.
