Abstract

BARBIERI, Aline Fabiane  and  NOMA, Amélia Kimiko. Intersectionality in Brazilian education policies: The intersectoral articulation in the Health School Program. Educação. UNISINOS [online]. 2017, vol.21, n.2, pp.137-145. ISSN 2177-6210.  https://doi.org/10.4013/edu.2017.212.02.

The article presents the main features and the process of construction of intersectoral policy in the context of the policies of Brazilian education and, more specifically, the Health School Program. It is based on documentary and bibliographical research grounded in policy documents and analysis founded on theoretical and methodological assumptions of the historical materialism. Derived from the political and administrative decentralization process, which were initiated from the 1990s on, intersectoral policies emerge as a flexible mechanisms for funding sources of educational policies. In PSE, the intersectoral approach is presented as fundamental to an efficient and sustainable approach to health problems among schoolchildren. Although they are advances in the field of the guarantees of social rights, intersectoral policies such as PSE perform an essential social function in the capitalist society to soften the expressions of “social issue” on education and health.
