The text betrays the benefits, alliances and challenges of experience, alongside a description of the program, mainly the barriers to its development and expansion. The text describes the administrative power structure at the University of Tennessee Knoxville; serves as a testament to my career as Director of the African and African-American Studies Program from 2011 to 2016; and offers a general discussion of the challenges of black women in academia, in the course of their careers.
