Abstract

SCHUTZ, Jenerton Arlan  and  COSSETIN, Vânia Lisa Fischer. Instituted and legally supported orphanhood: critical reflections on the “new” brazilian High School. Educação. UNISINOS [online]. 2019, vol.23, n.2, pp.209-225.  Epub Apr 30, 2020. ISSN 2177-6210.  https://doi.org/10.4013/edu.2019.232.01.

The present article examines the provisional measure 746/2016, converted in the law 13.415, situating it in the debate regarding the goals and the format of the “new” Brazilian High School. It aims to present the main unfoldings of the reform and to problematize at least three of its most notable abuses: to make the school servile to the international organisms and to the demands of the financial market; to put in risk the democratic and universal principle of the republican education; and to authorize adults to exempt from the formation of the new generations, transferring such responsibility to the children and youngsters themselves. The assumption is that students will have full emotional and intellectual conditions for this. However, children and young people are being constrained to make decisions prematurely. In summary, officially forsaken, orphaned by a state decision and with legal protection.

Keywords : Reform to the High School; School; Education.
