Abstract

COELHO, Wilma Baía  and  SILVA, Carlos Aldemir Farias da. Sociabilities and discrimination amobg groups of juvenile-adolescents in High School. Educação. UNISINOS [online]. 2019, vol.23, n.2, pp.225-241.  Epub Apr 30, 2020. ISSN 2177-6210.  https://doi.org/10.4013/edu.2019.232.02.

The present article analyses the relationships of sociability and discrimination of juvenile-adolescents in their experiences of groups in different dimensions of High School. It seeks, furthermore, to comprehend how do they deal with that which is different from themselves. Our analyses come from the observations, questionnaires, interviews and discussion groups carried out with 184 juvenile-adolescents from a public school in Belém, state of Pará. From our conversation with the students, we operate the concepts of representation, hierarchy and socialization, which have allowed us to understand that, despite the occurrence of sociability, discrimination makes itself known. There seems to be a mismatch between that which the school proposes to itself and that which the students effectively learn, due to the fact that their learning process is not restricted to the boundaries of the school room, but spreads out beyond it.

Keywords : Sociabilities; Discrimination; High School.
