Abstract

BOGEA, Diogo. The action’s pathos: notes on teacher’s responsibility and singularity. Educação. UNISINOS [online]. 2019, vol.23, n.2, pp.273-286.  Epub Apr 30, 2020. ISSN 2177-6210.  https://doi.org/10.4013/edu.2019.232.05.

Investigation on the concept of “responsibility” and its implications in the contemporary comprehension of the “teacher’s responsibility”. The modern tradition grounds the responsible action with the notion of a rational, conscious and self-conscious subject. Responsible action presupposes, in this record, some kind of knowledge which legitimates the affirmative power of the free agent to act or not to act. We’ll try, from the reference to the philosophy of Nietzsche and Derrida’s thinking, to bring the dimension of pathos to understand human action. We’ll also try to bring up the comprehension of responsibility as “response” to the singularity of the “other” that calls us. It’s an experience of responsibility with an “undecidable” dimension between knowing and not-knowing, power and impotence, affirmation and passivity.

Keywords : Responsibility; pathos; singularity.
